Dance Movement Psychotherapist
I am a Dance Movement Psychotherapist with experience of working with adults, children and young people.
I offer a warm, non-judgemental and permissive space with the aim of helping you to bring your whole self to therapy. Together, we can find ways to work through difficulty, strengthen compassion, self-esteem and move towards your goals.
Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) is a creative therapy which incorporates body-awareness (somatics), movement, creative exploration and talking to offer support, guidance and opportunity for growth and change.
Sometimes words are not enough, by using creativity we can express and understand ourselves and experiences with greater clarity and fresh perspectives. Our bodies hold wisdom that is often overlooked, in DMP we bring the body’s wisdom to the forefront and listen to our embodied experience.
I use a multi-disciplinary and integrative approach to therapy utilising music, movement, art-making and improvisation within sessions, alongside building a supportive relationship through talking. My therapeutic approach is primarily person-centred with influences from psychodynamic, gestalt and CBT.
You do not have to have experience of creative practice or movement to benefit from DMP. All movement and creative exploration is at your pace and I am guided by you to offer interventions to suit your needs.
I am registered with the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK (https://admp.org.uk/) which is an organisational member of UKCP.
Please get in touch if you would be interested in working together.
