Matthew Areskog (He/Him)

Matthew is West Country born and bred and feels really proud to live in a progressive, liberal and inclusive city. Matthew works at the local city-centre NHS hospital Trust in a role that ensure that the voice and lived experience of marginalised people and communities  who need and use local health services shapes the way services are designed and delivered.
Matthew first discovered yoga in 2012 shortly after moving to Bristol. Matthew’s style of teaching both acknowledges and is grounded in the often messy realities of everyday life. Matthew believes that what we find and cultivate on the mat, we can learn and take with us off the mat into everyday life. As someone who has struggled with addiction and is in active recovery, yoga has provided Matthew with a toolbox of practices and approaches to stay well and thrive. For Matthew, Yoga is medicine.
Matthew guides practice in a heart-led way that is respectful, supportive and inclusive. Expect to move together in a way that encourages grounding, spaciousness, strength, stability and flexibility – all with a flavour of playfulness.
