Yoga is core to my life, and I am deeply grateful for discovering this practice in my early twenties. My desire is that yoga will empower you on your life’s journey and provide you with tools to help realise your own creative potential.

Movement practices provide a much needed balance to modern life – an opportunity to take space from all the busy-ness, and to reset and rejuvenate the nervous system. I teach a dynamic vinyasa practice, combining the smart sequencing found in the Ashtanga and contemporary vinyasa traditions with the precise alignment born out of the Iyengar tradition and modern functional anatomy. Classes are focused on the coordination of breath and movement, balancing effortful postures with opportunities to deeply relax and let go.

I draw on my own yoga practice as inspiration for my teaching. Practice is different every day, some days it flows effortlessly, other days it does not! Each time I come to my mat is an opportunity to be fully with my present experience and to practice (and live!) from this place. I weave in practises of gratitude, and setting intentions to realign myself with what I want to create in life.

I first encountered yoga at an Ashtanga Vinyasa school in Oregon, USA. It was love at first sight. I felt uplifted, centred, peaceful and very very alive, and committed to daily practise of this precise and demanding form. Since then I have been grateful to learn and study with many other teachers, including Christopher Gladwell, Sarah Harlow (at Yogasara). Other influential teachers include Richard Freeman, Clive Sheridan and Bridget Woods Kramer as well as the somatic approaches of Feldenkrais and Body Mind Centering. I completed my teacher training with Paul Dallaghan in Thailand – an Ashtanga based training with a focus on pranayama (breathing practices).

I play guitar and lead songs regularly in shamanic ceremonies, and bring a little of these ways into my teaching.

I also love to dance – Contact Improvisation, 5 Rhythms and Movement Medicine – and I bring in this focus on creativity and self-expression into my classes.

I am a Yoga Alliance registered teacher (RYT 200).
